Vegetable prices remain sky-high in the capital
New Delhi: Prices of vegetables at grocery stores in Delhi continue to remain sky-high on account of almost 25 per cent short-supply in the market after crops from bulk-producing states were damaged in heavy rains.

Prices of vegetables like simla mirch, potatoes, tomatoes, cauliflower, onions and peas continued to rise due to short supply in the Azadpur market (Asia’s biggest fruit and vegetables market), traders said.
Potatoes was selling at Rs 22-25 a kg at retail outlets in Delhi.
Peas and simla mirch were available at Rs 100 a kg each in retail outlets, while lady’s fingers cost Rs 60 a kg.
Tomato and cauliflower prices were no better at Rs 40 a kg each in grocery stores.
The wholesale prices of vegetables also remained on the higher side due to the supply shortfall.
