Baba Ramdev’s condition worsens, shifted to ICU at Dehradun
Haridwar/Dehradun: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s health deteriorated further as his indefinite fast against corruption entered seventh day. He has been shifted to ICU of Himalayan Hospital located in the Jolly Grant area just a while ago for further treatment.

Medical team of 15 doctors are looking after his health. Heavy security has been deployed outside the hospital and no one is allowed to enter in the ICU where Baba Ramdev is getting treatment.
“His blood pressure is 104/70 which is low and pulse rate is 58 per minute which is also low. If his pulse rate and BP continue to go down, it may put some pressure on his heart. We found that his health is going down. It is worrisome,” Chief Medical Officer Yogesh Chandra Sharma said after conducting medical examination of Baba Ramdev whose fast entered seventh day on Friday.
The CMO said there are 183 people in Patanjali ashram who are sitting on fast with the 46-year-old yoga guru.
A Patanjali Yogapeeth spokesman claimed that the decision to shift Ramdev to a hospital was taken by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, who gave directions to Haridwar District Magistrate in this regard.
The 46-year-old yoga guru is being “taken to Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences in Dehra Dun”, G S Martolia, SSP, Dehra Dun, told PTI.
There was commotion at the ashram as some of Ramdev’s supporters protested the district administration’s move to shift him to hospital.
Some protestors even clashed with police when the yoga guru, who is on a fast against corruption and black money, was being taken on a stretcher. However, it was resolved immediately with the help of ashram authorities.
“We have recommended him immediate hospitalisation. He should be admitted on priority basis. I have sent my report to the District Magistrate and response is awaited,” Dr. Sharma said.
The CMO said he found that Baba Ramdev was suffering from dehydration and that he has been advised to break his fast which has been rejected by the yoga exponent.
“There is not much improvement in his health after he started taking lemonade. We have advised him to take glucose which he has denied… He needs to be medically examined and taken to hospital. (His associate) Balakrishna’s health is satisfactory,” Dr. Sharma said.
