VHIMW opens with Arjun Khanna’s collection
New Delhi: The third edition of Van Heusen India Mens Week (VHIMW) Autumn/Winter 2011 began here with debut designer Arjun Khanna’s show.
The event started with much fanfare last evening with participating designers entering the venue in their vintage bikes and bicycles.
Khanna’s collection titled ‘Action Men’ paid homage to the strong men and their various avatars including that of a brave cop, caring father and sophisticated professional.
“It’s a nostalgic collection and coming to Delhi is like coming back to home after five years. I was always associated with men’s fashion. My collection pays homage to real and fictional men of action. It is an artful illustration and a presentation of masterful tailoring,” said the designer.
The collection saw harem pants and patialas with pockets teamed up with short jackets, kurtas worn with tie and slim fit trousers.
“It was a spoof of the action man and was a take on ‘Sherlock Holmes’. I have included the vintage props – Rolex watches, cameras, hats and leather gun holsters to create the feel of action men,” said Khanna.
The collection used fabrics such as silk, linen and wool with hues of black, beige, red and white.
