Jethmalani disapproves Arundhati’s remarks on Kashmir
Allahabad: BJP’s Rajya Sabha member Ram Jethmalani today disapproved Arundhati Roy’s controversial comments on Kashmir but said the writer-activist is fully entitled to her right to freedom of expression.
“I do not approve of what Arundhati Roy has been saying on Kashmir these days. I do not see any merit in her observations. Yet, it must be kept in mind that she is fully entitled to her right to freedom of expression,” Jethmalani told reporters here.
The eminent lawyer was asked to comment on Roy’s recent remarks on Kashmir which had triggered demands that she be tried for sedition.
Jethmalani’s take on Roy’s remarks came two days after he differed from the BJP line and backed the Central interlocutors on Jammu and Kashmir who were slammed by his party for bringing in the Pakistan “dimension” to the Kashmir issue.
