Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported that thousands of truckers and other protesters gathered in Ottawa on Saturday to demand an end to COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other public health restrictions.
Nearly 10,000 people were expected to be present by day’s end, police said. As of Saturday evening, there was no official estimate of the crowd size, according to media reports.
“Trudeau said he was concerned the protest would turn violent but claimed the convoy represented a “small fringe minority” that does not “represent the views of Canadians.”
