South Africa in strong position on Day 2 of 1st Test against India
Centurion: South Africa going strong on the second day of first Test of the three match series against India after bundling the visitors at just 136 here at SuperSport Park, Centurion today.
After India faced just three balls in the morning session before Morne Morkel brought an end to the innings, the two South African opener Smith and Alviro Petersen seemed to be in no discomfort at all against the Indian seamers who failed to extract any movement on the Super Sports Park track.
Off spinner Harbhajan Singh provided the breakthrough by evicting the dangerous Smith in the last over before lunch, much to the relief of the Indians.
Kallis and Amla taking the South African lead ahead as both the batsmen have scored century and run marathon is still on.
India 136 all out; Tendulkar 36, Morkel 20/5
South Africa 345/2 in 82 overs; Kallis 100 not out, Amla 98 not out; Harbhajan Singh 2/107.
