October 20, 2024: Today marks the 29th anniversary of the beloved classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, coinciding with the festive occasion of Karwa Chauth.
To commemorate this special day, Kajol shared a memorable still from the film featuring herself and Shah Rukh Khan, playfully reminding fans of the movie’s iconic connection to the festival. In her post, she wrote, “29 years to the OG of Karva Chauth… wishing everyone a very hungry and successful Karva Chauth… maybe go to Maratha Mandir and see the film.”
Released in 1995, DDLJ is a romantic drama directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Chopra. It became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of its time and is often regarded as one of the most iconic films in Indian cinema history.
The story follows Raj and Simran, who fall in love during a trip to Europe but face cultural and familial obstacles that challenge their relationship. The film is renowned for its unforgettable music, stunning locations in India, London, and Switzerland, and the undeniable chemistry between its lead actors.
On the work front, Kajol is set to appear in the Netflix film Do Patti, alongside Kriti Sanon. Directed by debutant Shashanka Chaturvedi and written by Kanika Dhillon, the film will stream starting October 25.
The recently released teaser hints at a suspenseful thriller, set in the fictional town of Devipur, Uttarakhand. Kajol plays a determined cop on a mission to solve an attempted murder case, while Kriti portrays twin sisters involved in the investigation, each hiding secrets that complicate the narrative. The film also stars Shaheer Sheikh as Dhruv Sood, adding layers of intrigue to the story. This marks Kajol’s second collaboration with Kriti, following their earlier project, Dilwale.
