Steel Authority of India Limited Supports Infrastructure for World’s Largest Spiritual Gathering with Chequered Plates, Bridges, and More
Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), January 9: The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna company, has supplied approximately 45,000 tonnes of steel to support the construction and infrastructure for the Mahakumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj, one of the world’s largest spiritual gatherings.
Steel for Essential Structures
The steel supplied by SAIL includes chequered plates, hot strip mill plates, mild steel plates, angles, and joists, which will be used to construct temporary but essential structures such as:
- Pontoon bridges
- Passages and temporary steel bridges
- Substations
- Flyovers
The key customers for this steel include the Public Works Department (PWD), Uttar Pradesh State Bridges Corporation, and the Electricity Board, along with their suppliers.
A Proud Contribution
SAIL has a legacy of contributing to the Mahakumbh, having previously supplied steel for the 2013 edition of the event. In a statement, SAIL expressed pride in its ongoing support:
