In response to the catastrophic wildfires that have swept across the city, the Recording Academy has announced that this year's Grammy telecast will include efforts to raise funds for the victims and honor the bravery of the first responders fighting the flames. Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, confirmed that a $1 million donation had already helped raise over $2 million in emergency aid for those affected.
The show will feature Beyoncé leading the nominations with 10, alongside other prominent artists such as Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, and Charli XCX. Despite initial discussions about potentially postponing the event, the Academy has decided to move forward with the show, which will also carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising funds for wildfire relief and recognizing the courage of those who have worked tirelessly to protect the community.
The Recording Academy emphasized the importance of this year’s telecast as not only a celebration of music but also an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing recovery efforts.
