Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), January 14: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that over 35 million devotees took a holy dip at the sacred Triveni Sangam during the first Amrit Snan on Makar Sankranti, marking a grand beginning for Maha Kumbh 2025.

"Heartfelt Greetings to Devotees"
In a post on X, CM Yogi shared his gratitude: "Heartiest greetings to all revered saints, Kalpvasis, and devotees who took a holy dip of faith at the grand confluence of faith, equality, and unity, 'Mahakumbh-2025.' More than 3.50 crore saints and devotees earned the holy benefit of bathing in the uninterrupted-clean Triveni today."

The CM expressed appreciation for the efforts of Akharas, the Maha Kumbh Mela administration, and countless sanitation workers. "On the successful completion of the first Amrit Snan festival, heartfelt thanks to the Akharas, local administration, police, sanitation workers, and volunteers. Let us continue this journey of devotion and good deeds," he said.

Key Highlights of the Event
To enhance the sanctity of the event, the Uttar Pradesh government organized a flower shower from helicopters, covering the ghats and Akharas with rose petals. The sight of petals falling from the sky filled the air with devotion, as chants of "Jai Shri Ram" and "Har Har Mahadev" resonated across the Sangam banks.

The Maha Kumbh, which commenced on January 13, will continue until February 26, with key bathing dates including:

  • January 29 (Mauni Amavasya – Second Shahi Snan)
  • February 3 (Basant Panchami – Third Shahi Snan)
  • February 12 (Maghi Purnima)
  • February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).

A Historic Gathering
Being celebrated after 12 years, Maha Kumbh 2025 is expected to witness over 450 million devotees from across the world, making it one of the largest spiritual gatherings in human history.
