Actor says missing a film may bring regret, but not jealousy
March 15, 2026: Akshay Kumar recently shared his views on the success of Ranveer Singh’s action film Dhurandhar while speaking at the India Today Conclave Delhi 2026. During the session, the actor reflected on how the film industry constantly evolves and said that actors must adapt to changing audience preferences instead of competing with one another. According to him, cinema trends shift every few years as viewers’ tastes change rapidly.
Explaining his point, Akshay compared the film industry to a circle that keeps moving. He said audiences often change their choices just like people change cuisines — enjoying something different every few years. Referring to Dhurandhar, he noted that audiences are once again embracing large-scale action films. He also praised Ranveer Singh’s intense performance, saying the actor carries the image of a powerful “angry young man” and brings high energy to action roles.
Akshay also addressed why he was not part of the film, revealing that director Aditya Dhar simply did not consider him for the role. When asked whether missing such projects creates rivalry among actors, he dismissed the idea of jealousy in the industry. The actor said many performers often wish they had done certain films, but that feeling is only regret, not envy. Criticising the “rat race” mindset, Akshay added that constantly chasing rankings like number one or two can disturb personal balance and that people should focus instead on living peacefully and doing good work.
