ICC disclose nominees for Women’s Player of the Month for November

The shortlist for the November 2023 ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award includes left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal of Pakistan, young spin bowler Nahida Akter of Bangladesh, and veteran batsman Fargana Hoque of Bangladesh. The International Cricket Council (ICC) released an official statement saying, “Three figures from the see-saw battle between Bangladesh and Pakistan comprise the shortlist for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for November.”
Nahida Akter, a left-arm spinner from Bangladesh, is up for Women’s Player of the Month for the second time in a row. This comes after Akter continued to take wickets during her team’s victory over Pakistan in the ODI series. The last name on the list is Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal, who was nominated for the first time due to her strong showing in the opening match and her economical spells.
After leading Bangladesh to a 2-1 victory over Pakistan in Mirpur, Akter is added to the shortlist for the second consecutive month. Akter, who was nominated in October for her T20I efforts, excelled in the ODI format and won Player of the Series after taking seven wickets at an average of 14.14 over three matches.
Hoque was nominated for ICC Women’s Player of the Month for the first time after scoring 110 runs in the winning ODI series. With 40 runs in the second innings, a catch and a run out on pitch, the opener was crucial to Bangladesh’s victory in the series.

On Pakistan’s tour to Bangladesh, left-arm spinner Iqbal was among the wickets once more. Iqbal made an impression in the early going with his economical spells of wicket-taking, even though the team was unable to win the series. The 28-year-old’s four wickets and 13 runs from her nine overs in the opening match were a particular highlight for her. Iqbal took two more wickets after his Player of the Match performance, and at the end of the month, he had six wickets at 12.50 and an economy rate of 2.58
