Hetmyer dropped, Joseph rested for final two T20Is vs England

Shimron Hetmyer, a batter for the West Indies, has been left out of the T20I team for their last two matches against England. ESPNcricinfo reports that pacer Alzarri Joseph has been rested for the final two games of the series. Hetmyer has experienced form struggles over the past few weeks. In the first two 20-over games of the five-game series against England, the 26-year-old scored one and two runs. Additionally, he was not included in the starting lineup for the third game in Grenada.

Hetmyer will be replaced in the squad for the final two Twenty20 Internationals against Jos Buttler’s team by 34-year-old Johnson Charles. Charles scored 44 runs in his final Twenty20 International match in August. Contrarily, speedster Joseph has received extra rest in advance of their January tour of Australia. The 27-year-old pacer is expected to play in all three formats during the Caribbeans’ forthcoming tour, which consists of two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is. The Test match on January 17 will mark the beginning of the tour.
For the final two Twenty20 Internationals in Trinidad, fast bowler Oshane Thomas has been added to the team to replace Joseph. In the second Twenty20 International match versus England, Joseph took three wickets for 39 runs and was a key player. Against the English side, he helped his team win by 10 runs by taking out Phil Salt, Will Jacks, and Sam Curran in the second Twenty20 International match.
For now, the five-game T20I series is 2-1 in favour of the Caribbeans.
The West Indies squad for their last two Twenty20 International matches against England Shai Hope, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Kyle Mayers, Gudakesh Motie, Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, and Oshane Thomas are the players who play behind Rovman Powell (C).
