Eoin Morgan thinks Pat Cummins justifies his record-breaking IPL price tag

Captain of England during the 2018 World Cup, Eoin Morgan, feels that Pat Cummins of Australia, who broke records and became the most expensive player in the IPL, “justifies” his Rs 20.50 crore price tag.
Mumbai Indians became interested in Cummins and joined the bidding war for the first time, with a base price of Rs 2 crore. MI backed while Royal Challengers Bangalore entered the bidding war against CSK as the price went up. As it appeared that RCB would win the players, SRH entered the fray, and the ensuing moments saw a high-bidding war break out.

Morgan defended Cummins and outlined the factors that made Cummins worthy of his asking price. Morgan stated, “The player that Pat Cummins is and considering the last year and a half that he has had, both with leadership and as a bowler with the World Test Championship winning side, retaining the Ashes in England during the English summer and then leading the Australian ODI team to another ODI World Cup,” during his appearance at the IPL 2024 Player Auction on Tuesday. Thus, confidence and recent performance are major contributing factors. It’s a supply-demand problem as well. Many teams are seeking leaders to fill leadership positions in the changing room as well as as captain. Thus, Pat Cummins fully warrants his high price.”

Anil Kumble, a former Indian spinner, said that Cummins’s purchase for that sum was unexpected and added, “That’s a really high price.” The sum of Rs 20 crores was unexpected. We anticipated he would demand a higher price, but Rs 20 crore sets a new record. We may be witnessing desperation to gain entry because SRH is reportedly in search of a captain. Maybe RCB was considering a long-term captain as well. Pat Cummins has luck. Three trophies, but this one would be the cherry on top.” Australia’s captain, who won both the 2023 World Cup and the 2023 World Test Championship, has claimed 55 wickets in 50 Twenty20 Internationals for his country, with a best average of 3/15. His batting average of 16.90 He is also a valuable lower-order hitter having played in 128 T20 games overall, including three fifties.
