Following a resounding 10-wicket loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul was left nearly speechless by the sheer dominance of the opposition’s openers.
Speaking after the match on Wednesday, Rahul shared his awe over the performance of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, whose explosive batting dismantled LSG’s bowling attack.

“Am lost for words. We have watched that kind of batting on TV. But this is unreal batting. Everything seemed to find the middle of the bat. Kudos to their skills. They have worked hard on their six hitting skills,” Rahul remarked, highlighting the exceptional skill level demonstrated by the SRH batsmen.
Rahul conceded that the Sunrisers’ openers left little opportunity for LSG to influence the game, particularly noting the challenge of halting their momentum. “They didn’t give us a chance to know what the pitch played in the second innings. Was hard to stop them as they teed off from ball one,” he said.
Reflecting on his own team’s performance, Rahul acknowledged strategic shortcomings, especially in their batting during the powerplay. “Once you are on the losing side, there are questions marks on the decisions taken. We were 40-50 runs short. When we lost wickets in the powerplay, we couldn’t get any momentum. Ayush and Nicky batted well to get us to 166. But even if we would have got 240, they could have chased it as well,” he explained, indicating that even a significantly higher score might not have been sufficient against the formidable SRH batting lineup.
