Actor Ayushmann Khurrana, like every Indian, is still basking in the glory of Team India’s thrilling T20 World Cup victory over South Africa. On Sunday, Ayushmann took to Instagram to express his admiration for the Men in Blue in his signature poetic style.
“Still can’t get over it! #t20worldcup #worldchampions,” Ayushmann captioned his post.
In the video, Ayushmann praised star players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav. A part of his impressive Hindi shayari reads, “Semi-finals me Kohli ke muh se nikla tha Ben-Strokes, tab toh alochakon ne laga diye they saare chokes. Aur ye final me dikha diya legend ne apna Virat roop, samjho pyaare yehi hai jeevan chaaon aur dhoop. Pandya ko bhi pichle do mahine se bahut kuch kaha sunaya, aakhiri over me fir usi ne toh jalwa dikhaya. Aur moochein ho toh Hardik jaisi ho varna na ho aur bowling figures ho toh Bumrah jaisi ho warna na ho.”
Ayushmann also urged fans to support the players without resorting to trolling or religious discrimination.
Overwhelmed by the historic win, he wrote, “Tears of joy! This a 140 crore giant big group hug! Whatta match! Whatta bunch! This Indian team has given joy to billions of Indians. We are the world champions! The superpower of cricket! Our generation is the luckiest to see India emerge as the World Cup winners thrice since 2007. Two in T20 and one ODI. Learning and taking cues from the last ODI World Cup final, here we are as bonafide winners! Jai Hind!”
In the dramatic final match, India won the toss and chose to bat. Despite early setbacks, a partnership between Virat Kohli (76) and Axar Patel (47) stabilized the innings, helping India reach 176/7. Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje were the top bowlers for South Africa, taking two wickets each.
Chasing 177, South Africa faced an early collapse but fought back with contributions from Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen. However, stellar bowling from Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya sealed the victory for India, restricting South Africa to 169/8.
Virat Kohli was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his crucial performance. This win marks India’s first ICC title since the 2013 Champions Trophy, ending a long trophy drought.
On the professional front, Ayushmann Khurrana is set to star in Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming film ‘Daayra’ alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. Produced by Junglee Pictures, an official announcement is awaited.
Additionally, Ayushmann will share the screen with Sara Ali Khan in an action-comedy produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment. The film, directed by Aakash Kaushik, marks the third theatrical collaboration between the production houses.
