Zelenskyy Defends Biden's Slip-Up, Calling It "A Mistake"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has defended US President Joe Biden after Biden mistakenly referred to him as "President Putin" during a NATO event, CNN reported.

Presenting Zelenskyy at the event on Thursday, Biden inadvertently called him "President Putin" before quickly correcting himself. This error, made during a period when Biden faces mounting pressure to demonstrate his fitness for another term, drew international attention.

Russian state media seized on the gaffe to criticize the NATO alliance, describing the incident as turning the event into "a farce."

When asked about his reaction at Ireland's Shannon Airport on Saturday, Zelenskyy downplayed the incident. "It was a mistake," he told reporters, according to CNN.

"I think the United States has given a lot of support to Ukrainians. We can overlook some mistakes, I think so," Zelenskyy added.
