Manu Bhaker’s Close Finish in Women’s 25m Pistol at Paris Olympics

India’s ace shooter Manu Bhaker narrowly missed out on becoming the first Indian to win three medals at the Summer Games, finishing fourth in the women’s 25m pistol event at the ongoing Paris Olympics on Saturday.

In an intense competition, Manu Bhaker was tied at 28 points with Hungary’s former world record holder Veronika Major, leading to a decisive shoot-off. Unfortunately, Manu couldn’t surpass Major, who secured the bronze medal, leaving the young Indian shooter just shy of the podium.

South Korea’s Jiin Yang clinched the gold medal in this event, while Camille Jedrzejewski of France took home the silver.

Earlier in the Games, Manu Bhaker had already made a significant mark by opening India’s medal tally with a bronze in the women’s individual 10M Air Pistol event. She further contributed to India’s success by winning another bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event alongside Sarabjot Singh. The duo triumphed over South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin with a score of 16-10 in the bronze medal play-off match.

In addition to Manu’s achievements, India’s shooter Swapnil Kusale also made history by becoming the first Indian to win a medal in the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event, securing a bronze with an aggregate score of 451.4.

Manu Bhaker’s impressive performances at the Paris Olympics have showcased her talent and determination, despite narrowly missing out on a historic third medal.
