A new Lifetime Christmas movie titled “Christmas in the Spotlight” has been inspired by the real-life romance of pop star Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce.
The movie will air as part of Lifetime’s annual holiday lineup, “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime,” later this year. The plot revolves around a pop star named Bowyn (played by Jessica Lord) who meets Drew, a professional football player (portrayed by Laith Wallschleger), backstage at one of her concerts. After Drew publicly confesses his crush on Bowyn, their relationship faces challenges from the media, paparazzi, and their families. The film adds a holiday twist, where they must decide by Christmas whether their love is real or simply a product of external pressures.
While the film isn’t officially based on Swift and Kelce, it mirrors their relationship, which began when Kelce attended one of Swift’s concerts and later shared his interest on his podcast. Swift has since been spotted at Kansas City Chiefs games, fueling public fascination with their romance.
In addition to this, Hallmark is also entering the NFL-themed holiday genre with “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” set to feature Kansas City Chiefs branding.
