The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a record-breaking prize pool for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, set to take place in the UAE.
The total prize pool has been increased to a remarkable $7.958 million, more than double the amount from the 2023 edition. The winning team will receive $2.34 million, a significant 134% rise from the previous champion’s prize of $1 million, while the runners-up will secure $1.17 million.
The semi-finalists will earn $675,000 each, a substantial increase over the previous payout. Teams will also receive $31,154 for every group-stage win, reflecting a 78% increase. Even teams that don’t make it past the group stage will walk away with $112,500 each, ensuring that all participating teams benefit financially from the event.
The tournament kicks off on October 3, 2024, with matches being held across Dubai and Sharjah, and the final scheduled for October 20. This historic move underscores the ICC’s commitment to promoting and supporting women’s cricket at the highest level.
