Despite this shift, he emphasized that for many young cricketers in Australia, representing the national team remains the ultimate aspiration.

According to a survey conducted by the World Cricketers Association, opinions are divided on the importance of different formats, with 50% of respondents favoring the ODI World Cup as the most prestigious, compared to 35% who chose the T20 World Cup.

Zampa noted that while franchise cricket provides new opportunities for players, the desire to play for Australia remains strong.

He remarked, “There have been a lot of questions about the ODI format… but playing for your country is still the priority.” As he prepares to play his 100th ODI against England at Trent Bridge, Zampa reaffirmed his commitment to the ODI format, stating he enjoys playing it and believes it continues to offer significant opportunities for emerging talents.

His recent successes, including being the leading wicket-taker in Australia’s T20 World Cup victory in 2021 and the ODI World Cup in 2023, further fuel his ambition to secure more titles for Australia.

Zampa emphasized the unique pride of winning for one’s country, asserting that such achievements resonate more profoundly than victories in franchise competitions.
