PETA India Appeals to Salman Khan for Donkey’s Removal from Bigg Boss 18

October 10, 2024: Bigg Boss 18 Faces Controversy as PETA India Urges Salman Khan to Remove Donkey from the Show

Salman Khan’s reality show Bigg Boss 18 has landed in hot water after People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India called for the removal of a donkey featured on the show. The animal, introduced as the 19th contestant named Gadhraj, has sparked public concern over the ethics of its inclusion in the high-profile show.

Through the letter, PETA India asked Salmaan to use his “influence to urge the show’s producers to avoid using animals as props for entertainment”.

“This would not only prevent stress to the animals and upset to viewers but also set a powerful precedent,” it read.

In the letter, the not-for-profit organisation also requested that the donkey be surrendered to PETA India for “rehoming in a sanctuary”, where it could live alongside other rescued donkeys.

The complaints centre around the donkey being confined in a small space and exposed to the harsh conditions of a television set, which can be particularly distressing for prey animals like donkeys.

PETA India addressed a letter to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, urging him to use his influence to ensure the donkey’s removal from the sets. The organisation expressed worries over the treatment and use of the animal, which they believe could cause unnecessary stress and harm. The appeal highlights the growing call for better animal welfare practices, particularly in entertainment.
