According to Cinetrak, the total earnings for Vettaiyan stand close to ₹160 crore at the end of the four-day weekend, with over ₹65 crore coming from Tamil Nadu alone. The film has already outperformed many Tamil releases of 2024 and is now only behind Vijay’s GOAT and Dhanush’s Raayan in terms of box office collections.

The Rajinikanth starrer is expected to surpass Dhanush’s Raayan by today (Oct 14), but it remains to be seen if it can top Vijay’s GOAT by the end of its run. Although Vettaiyan had a stellar opening, its performance during the weekdays will play a critical role in determining its overall success. The film has performed well in Tamil Nadu, generating ₹3 crore in advance bookings for its fifth day (Monday), but its performance outside Tamil Nadu has been relatively modest.

Vettaiyan, an investigative drama centered around a gripping crime plot and the relentless pursuit of justice, stars Rajinikanth in the lead role, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayan, and Ritika Singh. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the film is lauded for its engaging narrative, striking visuals, and a strong musical score by Anirudh Ravichander, which has become a fan favorite.
