Pakistan’s Shan Masood Praises Spin Duo Noman Ali And Sajid Khan For Their Exceptional Performances

October 18, 2024: Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood hailed the spin duo of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan as pivotal in their 125-run victory over England in the second Test in Multan. This win marked Pakistan’s first success on home soil since 2021, a much-anticipated outcome for the team and its supporters.

While individual performances, including Saim Ayub’s 77 and Kamran Ghulam’s century, played crucial roles, it was the experienced spin pair that took center stage. Noman and Sajid combined to claim all 20 wickets of the English team, showcasing their dominance and skill.

In his post-match presentation, Masood praised their contributions, stating, “Noman and Sajid coming in, it’s never easy, and they looked like two seasoned campaigners. In the second innings, we didn’t even need a third bowler, and that speaks volumes for them.” He emphasized the importance of teamwork, highlighting contributions from other players, including Zahid and Jamal, who played vital roles in the field and with the bat.

Masood also singled out Salman Ali Agha, who continued to impress after his strong performance in the first Test. Agha’s vital 63 runs in the second innings helped set a competitive total for Pakistan, reinforcing his status as a promising player. “Agha is probably one of my favourite players; he’s a team player,” Masood remarked. “For him to play in those pressure situations and get something for the team, that’s special.”

With the monkey off his back after a six-match winless streak as captain, Masood expressed relief and satisfaction at the team’s collective effort. “The first one is always special; it has come after some hard times,” he said. “A lot has happened over the last week. For everyone to work together, to come up with a strategy to pick 20 wickets and make it happen, that’s the most satisfying thing.”

With this victory, Pakistan leveled the series at 1-1, setting the stage for the decisive third Test in Rawalpindi, starting on October 24. The team will be eager to build on this momentum as they look to secure a series win against England.
