Actor Piyush Mishra recently shared a touching behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Maqbool, featuring himself with the late Irrfan Khan, stirring nostalgia among fans.
The black-and-white image captures Irrfan engaged in an intense conversation with director Vishal Bhardwaj. Piyush captioned the post with “Miyan Maqbool @irrfan,” paying tribute to Irrfan’s iconic role as the conflicted Maqbool in the film.
Maqbool, directed by Bhardwaj and based on Shakespeare’s Macbeth, showcases Irrfan in a powerful portrayal of Maqbool, a loyal yet ambitious underworld henchman grappling with loyalty and ambition. His nuanced performance in navigating these complex emotions earned him widespread acclaim and established him as a force in Indian cinema. Alongside Irrfan, the film also featured stellar performances by Tabu and Pankaj Kapur.
Irrfan’s untimely passing on April 29, 2020, due to a neuroendocrine tumor, left an irreplaceable void in the industry. His legacy, however, continues to live on through his son, Babil Khan, who made his acting debut in Qala (2022) and starred in the web series The Railway Men last year, showcasing his talent and carrying forward his father’s cinematic legacy.
