October 27, 2024: Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham remains a beloved film, especially for 90s kids who fondly remember its iconic moments. One of the most memorable scenes is Shah Rukh Khan’s grand entry as Rahul Raichand, stepping off a helicopter. However, in a recent interview on the Cyrus Says podcast, director-producer Nikkhil Advani revealed that Shah Rukh was actually disappointed with this scene.

Advani, a longtime friend of SRK, shared that the actor was initially excited when he learned his entry would involve a helicopter. “He thought he was going to jump off the helicopter, but he only had to step down,” recalled Advani. The scene was crafted more to highlight Jaya Bachchan’s character sensing her son’s arrival, which left SRK hoping for more action.

This affinity for action isn’t new for Shah Rukh. Nikkhil also revealed that SRK even added his own “thrills” to the basketball scene in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, choreographing it like an action sequence. “He got a credit for thrills in the film because he treated the basketball scene as if it were an action sequence,” explained Advani.
SRK’s love for action has been a recurring theme throughout his career. In the Netflix documentary The Romantics, Aditya Chopra shared how Shah Rukh always aspired to be an action hero rather than a romantic lead. Nikkhil further mentioned that SRK “hates” love stories, despite his reputation as the King of Romance, and often joked about wanting to do something different from the love stories directed by Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra.
On the work front, SRK is set to appear in Sujoy Ghosh’s King, where he will share the screen with his daughter, Suhana Khan.
