October 29, 2024: Riddhima Kapoor Sahni recently spoke candidly about the intense trolling her family endured after the passing of her father, legendary actor Rishi Kapoor. In an interview with Galatta India, Riddhima shared the challenges of dealing with public scrutiny during a deeply personal period of grief.
Recalling the hurtful comments on social media, Riddhima explained, “People would say, ‘Oh, they look so happy; they’re going out.’” She emphasized how these remarks were painful and failed to recognise the private sorrow her family was experiencing. While the Kapoors may have appeared composed in public, within the privacy of their home, they were grappling with the profound loss of Rishi Kapoor.

Riddhima also discussed the impact of public judgment on her mother, Neetu Kapoor, who faced criticism despite showing resilience. “My mother’s strength helped us all,” she said, highlighting how Neetu’s courage guided the family through difficult times.

Following Rishi Kapoor’s death, the family leaned on each other for support, choosing not to openly express their sorrow to avoid adding to one another’s pain. Riddhima noted that the Kapoors found strength in their unity, relying on each other in moments of vulnerability.
Addressing assumptions about privilege, Riddhima added, “People think we’re privileged, that we have everything—but they don’t know the insecurities we deal with.” She emphasised that, despite their public image, the family faces personal challenges and insecurities like anyone else.
