November 9, 2024: Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a strong 15-man squad for the first two matches of their upcoming T20I series against England, set to take place at the iconic Kensington Oval in Barbados. The West Indies have been dominant at home in T20I cricket, remaining unbeaten in four consecutive T20 series since 2023, and are eager to continue that winning streak in this high-profile series.
The squad includes a blend of experienced campaigners and exciting young talent. Key players like Akeal Hosein, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, and Andre Russell, who were unavailable for the recent Sri Lanka tour due to personal reasons, make their return, boosting the depth of the team.
In addition, Matthew Forde, who was named Player of the Series in the ODI series against England, steps into the squad in place of fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who is serving a two-match suspension. Head Coach Daren Sammy expressed his confidence in the squad’s ability to continue their impressive form, emphasizing the challenge of selecting the starting XI due to the competition for spots.
The series will feature five T20I matches, starting on November 9 at Kensington Oval, with the second match set for November 10 at the same venue. The final three matches will be held at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on November 14, 16, and 17.
