New Delhi, November 13 – Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction set for November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Gujarat Titans have announced the appointment of former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel as their new assistant and batting coach. Patel, a former wicketkeeper-batter with a 17-year career, brings extensive experience to the Titans’ coaching lineup.
“The Gujarat Titans are thrilled to welcome Parthiv Patel as our new Assistant and Batting Coach. Parthiv’s deep knowledge of batting strategies and technical skills will be pivotal in enhancing our players’ performance this season,” the franchise stated. Known for his sharp cricketing acumen and mentoring abilities, Parthiv will be integral to player development as the team prepares for the new IPL season.
Parthiv made his debut for India at 17 in 2002, playing 15 Tests and 10 ODIs. In his IPL career, he won titles with Chennai Super Kings in 2010 and Mumbai Indians in 2015 and 2017, becoming known for his quick glove work and effectiveness as an opener.
As GT gears up for the mega auction, they have retained core players like Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan. Gill, named ‘Player of the Tournament’ in 2023 for his 890 runs, took over GT’s captaincy from Hardik Pandya in 2024. Rashid Khan has also been instrumental, claiming 56 wickets in 56 matches.
Sudharsan, the 23-year-old who joined GT in 2022, has emerged as a key player with 1,034 runs, including a standout 2024 season where he finished as the sixth-highest scorer. Tewatia and Shahrukh bring additional depth as uncapped all-rounders with strong finishing skills.
Despite their championship win in 2022 and runner-up finish in 2023, Gujarat Titans saw a challenging 2024 season, ending eighth with five wins and seven losses. With Parthiv joining the coaching staff and a focus on refining team dynamics, GT is aiming for a strong comeback in 2025.
