Gulf Giants’ Aayan Khan ahead of ILT20 2024: “Future of cricket in UAE very bright”

Published:

For the second consecutive season, young bowling all-rounder Aayan Khan, who will play for the Gulf Giants, owned by Adani Sportsline, is one player to look out for in the upcoming International League T20 (ILT20) 2024. Aayan was a member of the Gulf Giants team that won the trophy the first time around. At the age of sixteen, he made tournament history by becoming the youngest player to compete in the T20 World Cup 2022. The boy is prepared to support the team in keeping the ILT20 Trophy.

“Playing for the Gulf Giants in the ILT20’s second season feels fantastic, especially after we took first place in the competition last year. With the trophy already won, the primary goal for season 2 of the massive cricket extravaganza is to hold onto it. This group of players acts as a unit. For this reason, the first season was exceptional. In an interview, he told the media, “We relished every second. Afghanistan’s Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman is a player the spinner is eager to collaborate with in a team full of talented internationals. I am thrilled to be partnering with Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the Afghanistani spinner. He is a great spinner. I anticipate picking up a lot from him, particularly if he is in peak form.”

In addition, he is excited to work in the same locker room as some of the top players in Caribbean cricket. “Carlos Braithwaite and Dominic Drakes are two West Indian players that I have also played with in other leagues. I therefore have a very strong bond with these players. Sharing the dressing room with these players has taught me a lot. They have a great reputation in the T20 league, and I’m thrilled to be playing with them again,” Aayan said with excitement.

Cricket has a very bright future in the United Arab Emirates. The training facilities and grounds have greatly improved, and we anticipate seeing a large number of young players leave the UAE in the future. As you can see, we made it to the U19 Asia Cup final earlier, which is encouraging for the sport’s promising future in the nation,” he continued. ILT20’s second season will air this year from January 19 to February 18. The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Desert Vipers, Gulf Giants, Dubai Capitals, MI Emirates, and Sharjah Warriors are the six teams that will compete.
