Olympic Champion Abhinav Bindra Praises Odisha’s State-of-the-Art Sports Science Center

Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik officially opened a state-of-the-art sports science centre at Kalinga Stadium on Monday, marking yet another noteworthy milestone for the state’s sports industry. A comprehensive facility that makes use of sports science and technology has been developed to assist athletes and para-athletes from various sports. It will function as a hub for supporting the recuperation and rehabilitation of talented local athletes as well as elite athletes from across India. The first individual Olympic gold medalist from India stressed the value of initiative in her speech. “This is a first-rate facility, and sports science is, in my opinion, the advantage that athletes need to succeed on a worldwide scale. Sports science is used by all international sporting superpowers at every stage of the process, from identifying talent to developing elite athletes.”

“I wish I had had the chance to use the fantastic technology and knowledge available here earlier in my career. He went on, “I’m sure it would have helped me perform even better.”
Bindra praised and emphasised the importance of the Para-Athlete Performance Lab, which is one of the specialised labs housed in the Sports Science Centre. Other labs include the Biomechanics Lab, Altitude Training Chamber, Cryotherapy, and Flotation Therapy. It is amazing to see how Odisha is using sport to instill these values in society. Sport is something that promotes inclusivity and gender equality. I haven’t personally visited any cutting-edge paratraining facilities around the globe. The entire facility is designed to be inclusive, accessible, and well-thought out.

“Seeing how many young girls from Odisha have taken up sports is also encouraging,” he remarked.
The Olympian acknowledged the evolving perspective on sport in Odisha, stating, “Odisha is making a commendable effort to change the thought process around sports performance and embedding sports science and technology, not just at the elite level, but at the grassroots level.” Despite the fact that the integration of sports science has become a tenet of Odisha’s sport model.
He went on to say that athletes from Odisha are already beginning to exhibit a focus on sports science. “I had the pleasure of talking with some young athletes from Odisha, and even though I didn’t think like that when I was an athlete, they were asking fascinating questions about science and performance. It was really touching.
“Sports results take time, but I’m happy to see Odisha is on the path to develop many champions going forward,” the shooter said, speaking about the long-term implications of the Sports Science Centre at the Kalinga Stadium for sports in India. When you enter this place, you are transported to a different planet because of the amazing ecosystem. Although the facility aims to help Odisha’s athletes perform better, we are all citizens of the same country. It has to do with providing Indian athletes with the greatest chances in sports.”
