Popular actor and television host Shekhar Suman officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party’s headquarters in Delhi, with BJP leader Vinod Tawde welcoming him into the fold. During the ceremony, Suman expressed his gratitude towards key BJP figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Vinod Tawde, Anil Baluni, JP Nadda, and Anurag Thakur for welcoming him to the party.
Reflecting on the unexpected turn of events that led to his joining, Suman shared at a press conference, “Till yesterday I did not know that I would be sitting here today because many things in life happen knowingly or unknowingly. I have come here with a very positive thinking and I would like to thank God that he ordered me to come here.”
He also emphasized the importance of action over words in politics, stating, “A person depends a lot upon his words and after a while words hold no importance because there is a difference between saying and doing things. I can sit here and give a speech as long as I want but it would hold no importance if I do no work.”
This is not Shekhar Suman’s first foray into politics. In 2009, he ran for the Lok Sabha seat from Patna Sahib under the Congress banner but was defeated by Bollywood actor and BJP candidate Shatrughan Sinha, finishing third.
