Amidst the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, actor Yash exercised his democratic right by casting his vote at the polling booth in Hosakerehalli, Bengaluru. Arriving at his designated polling station, the ‘KGF’ actor sported a pink shirt and white trousers, complemented by stylish sunglasses as he got his finger inked.
Joining Yash in the electoral process, ‘777 Charlie’ fame Rakshit Shetty also cast his vote in Udupi, adding to the spirit of civic participation. Currently, one-half of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Congress-ruled Karnataka are polling in the second phase, including significant constituencies like Udupi Chikamagalur, Hassan, and Kolar.
In the previous 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP clinched a significant majority by winning 25 out of the 28 seats in the state. However, this time, the BJP has allocated three seats to the JDS, its alliance partner, with candidates contesting from Hassan, Mandya, and Kolar.
The ongoing second phase of polling spans across 88 seats across 13 states and Union Territories, with voting commencing at 7 am and concluding at 6 pm. Having successfully conducted the first phase of voting on April 19 across 102 constituencies, recording an overall voter turnout of over 62 per cent, the Election Commission gears up for subsequent phases, with the third phase scheduled for May 7.
