Afghanistan is all set to go to UAE for T20I series

The team will travel to the United Arab Emirates later this month to play a series of three Twenty20 Internationals and two 50-over practise matches against the hosts at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed on Thursday. Prior to the commencement of the three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches, which are slated to take place in Sharjah starting on December 29, the two teams will play two 50-over practise matches on December 25 and 27. Afghanistan’s second tour of the United Arab Emirates in 2023 will take place after the Rashid Khan-led team won the first series 2-1 in Abu Dhabi earlier this year in February.

Afghanistan and the Emirates Cricket Boards signed a mutual cooperation agreement last year, which applies to the series. Afghanistan and the UAE will play a series of three Twenty20 international matches each year, per the agreement. “We have benefited from our partnership with the Emirates Cricket Board. We have a great basis to build on from this year’s inaugural UAE Series as we get ready for the upcoming events. “We are excitedly anticipating the upcoming UAE series for the same reason again, banking on our positive past experience,” Naseeb Khan, CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, stated in an official statement.

“This upcoming tour marks the commencement of our new year which is expected to provide the AfghanAtalan squad with the necessary impetus for an action-packed 2024 season, featuring plenty of T20 cricket to be played,” he stated. It gives us great pleasure to welcome the Afghanistan team back this year for a second time. We played a very competitive Twenty20 International series in February, and this tour will give our experienced and younger players great chances to perform against a strong opponent once more, stated Emirates Cricket Board General Secretary Mubashshir Usmani. Afghanistan is a team on the rise with a strong support base in the United Arab Emirates. They performed incredibly well in the ODI World Cup. Usmani went on, “We are excited to welcome the Afghanistan team.

The show will wrap up Afghanistan’s assignments in 2023 and usher in an exciting and action-packed 2024 at the same time. Afghanistan Cricket is preparing for a busy year that includes several bilateral obligations in addition to the major event—the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup—which is set for June 2024.
