Afghanistan to play all-format series against Sri Lanka, Ireland after India T20Is

A trip to Sri Lanka and a series against Ireland in the UAE were planned by the Afghanistan Cricket Board before the T20 World Cup. The Afghanistan team will go to Sri Lanka for a one-off Test on February 2 at the Colombo Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground. This is the only Test match. The next two series, ODI and T20I, will each have three games and start on February 9 and 17, respectively.

All of the ODI games will be played at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, so the Afghanistan team will stay there. After that, the team will go to Dambulla for the T20I series.

After their tour of Sri Lanka is over, the Blue Tigers will go to the UAE to play Ireland from February 28 to March 18. Afghanistan will play one Test match and then three white ball series (T20I, ODI). The schedule of the series will stay the same. It will be a one-off Test at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. For the two white-ball matches, both teams will go to Sharjah. The ODIs will take place on March 7, 9, and 12, and the T20Is will start on March 15.

According to the ICC, Naseeb Khan, CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, talked about the future tour and said, “The year 2024 is a very busy and full of high-voltage competitions for the Afghanistan national team.” We will get the team ready for the very important T20 World Cup with the tours of India and Sri Lanka and then the home series against Ireland. “We are very excited about the multiple series,” Naseeb said. Afghanistan will play a three-match T20I series in India before going to Sri Lanka. The tour starts on Thursday and runs until Sunday.
