Kalank may have stumbled at the box office in 2019, but its song “Ghar More Pardesiya” continues to enchant audiences. Recently, The Academy spotlighted Alia Bhatt’s performance of the song on their Instagram handle, celebrating the global appeal of cinema and music.
The Academy’s post featured a clip of Alia’s graceful dance from Kalank, accompanied by a detailed caption:
“Alia Bhatt performing ‘Ghar More Pardesiya’ (vocals by Shreya Ghoshal with Vaishali Mhade) from the film ‘Kalank.’ Directed by Abhishek Varman. Starring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonakshi Sinha. Song composed by Pritam Chakraborty. Lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.”
Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions responded by calling it “iconic.” Alia Bhatt also shared The Academy’s post on her Instagram Story, adding heart and sun emojis.
This isn’t the first time The Academy has highlighted a song featuring Shreya Ghoshal. Earlier this year, her “Deewani Mastani” from Bajirao Mastani also received a nod.
Fans were thrilled, commenting on Shreya’s transcendent voice and speculating that The Academy is a big fan of the singer.
Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank stars Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Varun Dhawan, and Sonakshi Sinha. Despite its initial hype, the film didn’t perform well at the box office. However, “Ghar More Pardesiya” remains a testament to the film’s musical and choreographic brilliance, reinforcing Alia Bhatt and Shreya Ghoshal’s lasting impact in cinema.
