November 23, 2024: Rumours of marital discord between Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have once again surfaced, with fans noticing that Aishwarya has not publicly supported her husband’s latest film, I Want to Talk. The Shoojit Sircar directorial, based on a real-life story, focuses on the poignant relationship between a father and his daughter as he faces life-altering surgery.
While Aishwarya Rai has chosen to remain silent, Amitabh Bachchan has openly expressed his pride in his son’s performance. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the veteran actor shared glowing reviews of I Want to Talk and showered praise on Abhishek.
“Magical is the IN word… my love blessings and more,” he wrote, showcasing his support. In another heartfelt tweet, Amitabh added, “Mere bete, bete hone se mere uttaradhikari nahin honge; jo mere uttaradhikari honge woh mere bete honge. Abhishek mere bete; mere uttaradhikari,” which translates to, “My son, being a son does not make him my successor; those who will be my successors will be my sons. Abhishek is my son, my successor.”
Continuing his admiration, the legendary actor declared, “Abhishek the BEST… LOVE YOU,” and urged fans to remember his words about his son’s talent.
Despite Amitabh Bachchan’s public enthusiasm, Aishwarya Rai has refrained from promoting I Want to Talk. Instead, her recent social media activity has been limited to sharing a heartfelt birthday message for her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, who turned 13.
While neither Aishwarya nor Abhishek has commented on the swirling divorce rumors, Amitabh addressed the media frenzy indirectly. In a recent tweet, he wrote, “Speculations are speculations… they are speculated untruths, without verifications.” He further added that family matters are private, and he rarely speaks about them publicly.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar and written by Ritesh Shah, I Want to Talk delves into the struggles of Arjun Sen, a cancer survivor and single parent navigating his relationship with his daughter, Reya. The film, inspired by the life of Sircar’s friend, is a moving story about resilience and emotional connection.
The movie stars Abhishek Bachchan as Arjun Sen, alongside newcomer Ahilya Bamroo as his daughter. Supporting cast members include Banita Sandhu, Johny Lever, Pearle Maaney, and Jayant Kriplani. Produced by Rising Sun Films and Kino Works, the film features a score by George Joseph and music by Taba Chake.
Though I Want to Talk has garnered critical acclaim for its emotional depth and Abhishek’s performance, the lack of widespread support from certain quarters has raised eyebrows amid ongoing personal controversies.
