Academy Award-winning actor and filmmaker Angelina Jolie is set to be honored at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

According to Deadline, Jolie will receive the prestigious TIFF Tribute Award for Impact Media on September 8 during the festival’s fundraising gala. In addition to this accolade, Jolie will premiere her latest film, Without Blood, at the festival, marking its world debut.

Without Blood is a gripping war drama based on Alessandro Baricco’s novel of the same name. The film features an impressive cast, including Salma Hayek and Demian Bechir, and is expected to resonate strongly with audiences due to its powerful narrative.

The TIFF Tribute Award for Impact Media, presented by Anne-Marie Canning, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions by bridging the gap between social impact and cinema. This year’s gala, with Sandra Oh serving as the inaugural Honorary Chair, will also honor other notable figures such as Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Durga Chew-Bose, David Cronenberg, Clement Ducol and Camille, Jharrel Jerome, Mike Leigh, and Zhao Tao.

TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey praised Jolie’s contributions to both cinema and humanitarian causes, stating, “Angelina Jolie is a multifaceted talent who has entertained audiences for decades while consistently using her platform to champion important causes. We’re honored to present her with the 2024 TIFF Tribute Award for Impact Media.” Bailey added that the award recognizes Jolie’s exceptional achievements in filmmaking and her unwavering commitment to positive change, cementing her status as a humanitarian and global force.

Jolie’s long-standing dedication to social justice, highlighted in her works such as Unbroken and In the Land of Blood and Honey, has earned her widespread acclaim. Her return to TIFF follows her previous visit in 2017, when she screened her film First They Killed My Father.
