Singer-rapper AP Dhillon has unveiled his highly anticipated new EP, The Brownprint, marking another milestone in his career. Known for his distinctive blend of Punjabi music and contemporary sounds, Dhillon shared the details of the release on his Instagram account on Friday, much to the excitement of his fans.
In a statement released by his team, Dhillon explained the inspiration behind the EP’s title: “I’m calling my EP The Brownprint because I want to show our community that there are many avenues to put out Punjabi music. I want us to think of the bigger picture and tap into the impossible. It’s no longer about creating history; it’s about building a legacy for future generations.”
Released through Republic Records, The Brownprint features a powerful title track, “Brownprint,” which includes a collaboration with longtime partner Shinda Kahlon. The song is a gritty anthem that celebrates authenticity, loyalty, and strength, honoring the resilience of the Punjabi community. Collaborations with iconic artists like Jazzy B further elevate the track’s impact, making it an aggressive declaration of invincibility.
The EP showcases Dhillon’s versatility with tracks like “Losing Myself,” a poignant exploration of love, loss, and heartbreak. This track features a collaboration with Atlanta rap titan Gunna and was written by Dhillon’s father, Rashpal Singh, marking his songwriting debut. The song blends Dhillon’s dynamic vocals with an irresistible cameo from the hip-hop megastar.
Other tracks on the EP, such as “Distance” and “After Midnight,” delve into the complexities of human relationships, offering a lament of abandonment, betrayal, and separation. The EP also includes tracks like “Sweet Flower,” “315,” “To Be Continued,” and “Distance.”
One standout collaboration is “Bora Bora,” featuring Ayra Starr, marking her first foray into the Indian subcontinent’s music scene. The EP is co-produced by AP Dhillon alongside a talented team of producers, including AzizTheShake, Luca Mauti, Ramoon, Roc Legion, Gray Hawken, Tompa, Ben10k, Intense, Chris LaRocca, La+ch, Brendan Thomas, Madeleine Kay, and Herman Atwal.
The Brownprint was first announced earlier this month alongside the release of the Salman Khan-Sanjay Dutt starrer “Old Money,” further heightening anticipation for the project.
