Chu’s highly anticipated musical Wicked Part 1, have shared an exciting sneak peek of their powerful vocals in an 11-second behind-the-scenes clip featuring them singing “Defying Gravity.” The video quickly went viral, generating buzz among fans eager for the film.
In addition to the clip, a new featurette has been released, showcasing behind-the-scenes moments with the cast, including Grande, Erivo, and Jonathan Bailey. They discussed the significance of singing live on set rather than dubbing. Director Jon M. Chu praised their incredible talent, noting, “They are the best singers in the world, and so every scene, they have been singing live.”
The featurette also includes scenes of Grande warming up her vocals and Erivo practicing with a flying harness for her scenes.
Wicked Part 1, based on Gregory Maguire’s bestselling novel, follows the journey of Elphaba (Erivo) and Glinda (Grande) before they become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
