Over the years, Kapoor’s career has been marked by both successes and setbacks. After experiencing a series of box office disappointments, the actor found himself struggling with self-doubt and emotional turmoil. He admitted that the repeated failures began to affect his mental health, leading him to experience symptoms of depression.

“Being a ‘fat kid’ comes with its own mental trauma,” Arjun explained, reflecting on his lifelong struggles with body image. The disappointment from unsuccessful films compounded his struggles, causing him to question his purpose in the industry. “I just felt something was off. I even stopped enjoying watching movies,” he said, revealing how disconnected he felt from his passion for films.

During this challenging period, Arjun turned to therapy, which became a turning point in his journey. “I started seeking therapy a year ago,” he shared, describing it as a decision to prioritize his personal well-being over his career pressures. Although finding the right therapist took time, the support he received helped him confront his struggles head-on.

Adding to his mental health battles, Arjun was also diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disorder that impacts the thyroid. This condition, which also affects his mother and sister, has influenced his weight and energy levels, complicating his self-image further. “I could see changes in my body during different films, which was frustrating,” he revealed, acknowledging how this health challenge impacted both his physical appearance and his emotional well-being.

Despite these hurdles, Arjun has embraced a path of recovery and self-acceptance. Speaking out about his journey, he emphasised the importance of taking responsibility for one’s own health, saying, “At the end of the day, you are responsible for your own well-being.”

Kapoor’s openness about his struggles resonates with fans and shines a light on the often-overlooked issues of mental health and chronic illness within the film industry.
