Arshdeep Singh Breaks Ravichandran Ashwin's Record in T20 WC

India pacer Arshdeep Singh has set a new benchmark for the nation in the history of the T20 World Cup. With his remarkable spell of 4/9, Arshdeep surpassed Ravichandran Ashwin, who held the record for ten years, to become the player with the best bowling figures for India in the tournament’s history.

The young left-arm pacer showcased his exceptional skill with swinging deliveries, achieving figures of 4/9 against the USA at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. He eclipsed Ashwin’s previous record of 4/11, set against Australia in Mirpur in 2014. Harbhajan Singh now holds the third spot with his 4/12 against England in Colombo in 2012.

Arshdeep capitalized on India skipper Rohit Sharma’s decision to bowl after winning the toss. He delivered a double blow to the USA in the very first over, dismissing Shayan Jahangir for a duck and Andries Gous for 2, applying early pressure with his precise line and length.

After Steven Taylor and Nitish Kumar attempted to stabilize the USA innings, Arshdeep returned to the attack, removing the dangerous Nitish Kumar for 27 and leaving the USA struggling at 81/5. Harmeet Singh became Arshdeep’s final wicket as he concluded with figures of 4/9.

In the last over, USA batters Jasdeep Singh and Shadley van Schalkwyk managed to add 7 runs, taking their team’s total to 110/8.
