Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh couldn’t contain his excitement over Mayank Yadav’s impressive T20I debut against Bangladesh. Reflecting on the match, Arshdeep said, “Really excited with the way everyone bowled, especially Mayank. Even my normal balls felt like slower balls compared to his pace,” highlighting the Delhi pacer’s impact in the game.

Mayank’s highly anticipated debut unfolded at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior, marking his first appearance in the international arena. The 22-year-old, who received his maiden T20I cap from former wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik, showcased his raw speed, leaving Bangladesh batters struggling to keep up. Known for setting the IPL 2024 ablaze with his speed, Mayank hit speeds of up to 156.7 kmph, making him a key attraction in the match. Despite not having a full crack at it, he wrapped up his four-over spell with figures of 1/21, mixing his pace and controlling the game.

Arshdeep Singh, who was awarded Player of the Match for his stellar 3/14 performance, praised Mayank’s contribution while reflecting on his own strategy. “There was some breeze from the side I was bowling, so I used that. I didn’t get the wickets the way I wanted, but that’s okay. It’s just about making minor adjustments in the run-up and the wrist,” Arshdeep explained.

Arshdeep’s performance was key to India’s 7-wicket win, with his economical bowling putting pressure on Bangladesh right from the powerplay. He dismantled the top order by dismissing Parvez Hossain Emon and Litton Das, and later sealed his impressive performance by taking Mustafizur Rahman’s wicket in the final over of the first innings.

Reflecting on his growing prowess in T20 cricket, Arshdeep emphasized the importance of adapting to different pitches and conditions. “The best thing you can do in this format is adapt to different pitches and conditions,” he noted, highlighting how continuous learning and minor tweaks to his technique have helped him excel.

After India’s dominant win, both teams are set to head to New Delhi for the second T20I, where India will look to maintain their momentum and Bangladesh will aim for a comeback.
