Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: Addressing the Y20 summit in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur on Friday said that as the host of G20, India has an essential role in shaping the discussion and fostering collaboration among the member countries.
“As the host of G20, India has an essential role in shaping the discussion and fostering collaboration among the member countries…This comes with significant responsibilities as the decision taken at this summit can impact the lives of billions of people around the globe..,” Anurag Thakur said.
He further said that by 2030, the youth will dominate the global demography with considerable portions hailing from South Asia and with them lies the collective responsibility to influence global narratives and collective efforts in addressing Sustainable Development Goals.
Highlighting India’s achievements in the last nine years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government Union Minister said that the country has become the fifth largest economy in the world which was earlier on 10th position.
“India has the largest young population and the youth power is the power of the country which will make the country the third largest economy of the world,” he added.
The G20 Summit is slated to take place on September 9-10 at a recently-inaugurated state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam convention centre at Pragati Maidan.
Many heads of state and diplomats including US President Joe Biden, Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to be attending the G20 Leaders’ Summit.
The 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit in Delhi will be a culmination of all the G20 processes and meetings held throughout the year among ministers, senior officials, and civil societies.
