Australia dethrone India to reclaim No. 1 spot in ICC Test Rankings

Australia beat India to become the new No. 1 in the Test rankings, which were released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday. India had been at the top for a while. India and South Africa went to a 1-1 tie in the Test series on Thursday, which put Australia on top. India won the second Test at Newlands by seven wickets, with a total of 642 balls played in both innings. It was the shortest Test match in the history of red-ball cricket. Australia and South Africa played the smallest match ever in Melbourne in 1932 (656 balls). On a field that gave batters a lot of trouble, India easily beat the hosts with the ball on the second day, even though opener Aiden Markram scored an amazing hundred. They also beat a very low score in just 11 overs, which took five sessions.

While Australia was having a great run against Pakistan in their current Test series, they took back the top spot for the first time since winning the World Test Championship. Before the latest change in the way the table works, India and Australia were tied for first place with 118 points each. However, after India’s two-match Test series ended and Australia won the series with two straight wins over Pakistan, the team led by Pat Cummins went ahead of India, staying on 118 points while India fell to 117.

After their great bowling on Day 3, Australia tightened their grip even more to finish a rout of Pakistan. They are ahead by 82 runs and are at 68/7 at Stumps. Mohammad Rizwan (6) and Aamer Jamal (0) are at the wicket. When Hazlewood took four wickets, the Aussie bowling attack took over and put them in charge of the game.
