Australia put together a 13-player team for a Test series against the West Indies that starts on January 17. The Baggy Greens were led by Steve Smith, who was named captain of their 13-person team.
All-rounder Cameron Green, who is young, has been added back to the Test team. Matthew Renshaw has also been added as a possible replacement for David Warner, who retired from red-ball cricket. Renshaw was picked for the Test team over players like Marcus Harris and Cameron Bancroft.
George Bailey, the Chair of Selectors, announced that Green would be in the playing XI before the first Test. Bailey also said that Renshaw (Brisbane Heat) and Boland (Melbourne Stars) will play for their Big Bash League teams before they join the team for the first Test. Cameron Green will join Scott Boland and Matthew Renshaw in the starting XI for the Test in Adelaide, according to a report from cricket.com.au “We chose a team with what we think are the best six batters in the country.” “Scott Boland and Matt Renshaw will join the team before the first Test. They played in the BBL for the Melbourne Stars (Jan. 15) and the Brisbane Heat (Jan. 13),” Bailey said. Since Renshaw is Warner’s backup, the Australian team could also use Steve Smith in the first spot. When the third Test in Sydney was over, the experienced batter said he would be interested in being the opener.
An ODI series of three games will be played between Australia and the Caribbean team after the two-match Test series is over. In Tests, Pat Cummins will be in charge, but Steve Smith will be in charge of the ODI series while the World Cup-winning leader rests.
