October 10, 2024: Dancer Criticises Diljit Dosanjh’s Tour, Alleging ‘Unprofessional’ Management: ‘I’ve Never Worked with Such a Team’
London-based dancer Shilpa Sajan has publicly criticised the management team of Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati Tour, accusing them of “unprofessional and disrespectful” behaviour. Sajan, who was slated to perform as a backup dancer on the European leg of the tour, announced that she withdrew due to the treatment she received.
In an Instagram post shared on October 3, Sajan detailed her frustrations, claiming the experience turned out to be far from the career highlight she had hoped for. “As a dancer who’s been doing this professionally for years, this could have been one of the highlights of my career. But I pulled out,” she said.
Dancer Alleges Poor Compensation and Mismanagement
Sajan also referred to an earlier controversy surrounding Dosanjh’s U.S. tour in July, where dancers alleged non-payment—claims the singer’s management had denied at the time. She revealed that for the European leg, dancers were offered only 80 GBP (approximately ₹8,800), and had to cover most of their travel and accommodation costs.
“Despite being promised a ‘once in a lifetime experience,’ the conditions were unacceptable. I’ve never worked with such an unprofessional and disrespectful management team,” she stated, adding that the lack of proper communication and chaotic organization left dancers feeling stressed. According to Sajan, rehearsals were poorly managed, with dancers being cut without explanation and essential details being ignored until the last minute.
Tour Team Dismisses Allegations
When asked for a response, a source close to Dosanjh’s team refuted Sajan’s allegations, calling them “baseless and untrue.” The source added, “With a superstar like Diljit, it’s easy for anyone to comment and make news out of it.”
After wrapping up the European leg, Dosanjh is set to begin his Dil-Luminati India Tour on October 26, starting in Delhi.
