New Delhi [India]: Lambasting the BJP for the arrest of AAP MP Sanjay Singh by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday in the Delhi liquor policy case, Aam Admi Party MLA Somnath Bharti said “this is the beginning of an undeclared emergency in the country.”
“This is the beginning of an undeclared emergency in the country. BJP is going to lose the next Lok Sabha elections. INDIA bloc will win. They don’t even have slight evidence against Sanjay Singh, no money trail nothing. This is the result of their frustration. We will continue to fight against them in courts, roads, parliament,” Bharti told media.
Congress leader Meem Afzal also hit out at the BJP for Singh’s arrest, stating, “This is in
accordance with the tendency of this Govt. Those who speak up and question will go behind bars. I don’t find Sanjay Singh’s arrest surprising.”
“The way he speaks inside and outside the Parliament, gives interviews and openly challenges the PM and other leaders – it was certain that he had to go to jail. BJP is following this ritual these days,” he added.
The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday arrested Aam Admi Party MP Sanjay Singh in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-withdrawn new excise policy of Delhi.
It is the second high-profile arrest in the case after former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia. The arrest came hours after the ED conducted raids at the residence of the AAP Rajya Sabha MP in connection with the case.
