October 10, 2024: After its triumphant run in theatres, Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has officially debuted on OTT, starting its journey on Amazon Prime Video from today.
The streaming giant made the announcement on their Instagram handle, delighting fans eager to relive the horror-comedy experience at home.
Titled Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank, the story is set in Chanderi, years after the disappearance of Stree. This time, the town faces a new threat in the form of a headless ghost named Sarkata, who abducts women as part of his revenge plot, believing them responsible for Stree’s demise. Vicky (Rajkummar Rao), Bittu, Rudra, and Jana reunite to battle this new terror with the help of an unnamed woman, played by Shraddha Kapoor, diving deep into Chanderi’s dark history to save their town.
Producer Dinesh Vijan, of Maddock Films, expressed excitement over the film’s OTT release, noting that Stree 2‘s success reaffirms the power of beloved characters and strong storytelling.
The film has already made history by becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film ever, surpassing the lifetime collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, as confirmed by trade analyst Taran Adarsh. With a total collection of ₹586 crores in India, the film is on its way to inaugurating the ₹600 crore club. Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 has captivated audiences with its mix of humor, horror, and engaging narrative.
The film also featured star-studded cameos by Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar, both of whom have been praised for their contributions.
As Stree 2 lands on Prime Video, it continues to build on its momentum, offering a perfect mix of thrills and laughs, making it a must-watch for fans of the franchise.
