BookMyShow CEO Summoned By Mumbai Police In Coldplay Ticket Black Market Case

Published:

Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has summoned Ashish Hemrajani, CEO of Big Tree Entertainment (the parent company of BookMyShow), along with the company’s technical head, in connection with an investigation into alleged black market sales of Coldplay concert tickets.

They are expected to provide statements to the investigating officer today as part of the inquiry.

The summons follows a complaint filed by Advocate Amit Vyas, who accused BookMyShow of facilitating black marketing for the highly anticipated Coldplay concerts, scheduled for January 19 to 21, 2025, at DY Patil Stadium.

Vyas claimed that tickets initially priced at ₹2,500 are being resold by third parties and influencers for amounts as high as ₹3 lakh. He alleges that the platform misled the public and Coldplay fans, and he is seeking the registration of an FIR against the company on fraud charges.

The EOW has already recorded Vyas’s statement and identified several brokers involved in the ticket scalping. Investigations are ongoing, and more individuals may be summoned as the case develops.
